Tixel is a non-invasive skin resurfacing device that uses thermo-mechanical energy to treat the skin. It’s also known as “fractional ablative laser treatment” or “fractional skin resurfacing”. Tixel can be used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars, uneven skin texture, and more:
- Acne and acne scarring
- Rosacea
- Stretch marks
- Hyperpigmentation
- Melasma
- Skin tone and texture
During a Tixel treatment, a medical-grade titanium tip is heated to 400°C and used to stamp the skin in a fractional pattern, treating small zones surrounded by normal skin. This creates tiny areas of micro-damage that trigger the skin’s natural healing process, which includes:
- Stimulating new collagen production
- Tightening the skin
- Creating micro channels in the skin that allow for better absorption of topical products
Tixel treatments can be performed on the face, neck, and décolleté, and usually last 30–60 minutes. Side effects and downtime depend on the treatment level, but most people experience some redness and warmth for a few days after treatment. The skin may also look rough and flaky for a few days as it heals, and you may experience swelling around the eyes if the treatment area is delicate.
